[NEWS] Baba Aladura--Why I write a daily devotional
This book of the law should not depart out of your more mouth
but thou shall mediate therein day and
night, that thou latest observe to do according to all that is written therein,
for then, thou shall have good success”, Joshua 1 vs 8. This portion of the
Bible was a reference point illustrated by the Prelate of the Motailatu Church
Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide, MCCSW, Baba Aladura, Omo Eri, Dr. Israel
Akinadewo on the reason for writing a daily devotional, Daily Contact With God,
DCWG. Unveiling the maiden edition of the daily devotional, he disclosed that the
only assurance of Christians at this time is to get closer to God through the
Bible, hence the importance of the devotional. “To build a good Christian life,
we must not allow things that bother us in the world becloud our reasoning that
Heaven is real and Hell is real too”, . According to him, the daily devotional
is about compassion and grace of God that we must extend to the less privileges
adding three months daily devotional from January to March, 2017 is included in
the first edition, while the next edition would be from April to December. What
propelled me was the fact that, I was born by a father who took care of the
needy, he challenged me to do same and that is why, we are using a trust fund
to produce the daily devotional, as you are buy one of the devotional, you are
gaining more insight into knowing God and at the same time, help the needy less
privileges. On the challenges of writing a daily devotional, he said, it could
take three days to write a day devotional. “I was indoor throughout for the
period of intensive research and spiritual instruction on how the devotional
would be”. The Eminent who qualifies himself as the smallest said, the grace of
God that helped him to be used as instrument to write the daily devotional
cannot be quantified. He disabused the idea that, the Aladuras are only known
to be publishing books on prophecies, dreams, among others, noting that, the
daily devotional is not strange, “we were brought up through prophecies, sound
biblical doctrines and secular educational training”, he said. The Baba Aladura
also added that an organized Aladura hardly make publicity of its activities.
He noted that, some prophets have turned themselves to becoming political
prophets. Adding that, prophecy will only give direction on how to overcome the
dangers in the world but not a password to the kingdom of God. Meanwhile,
General Leader, C & S Movement, Special Apostle, Sunday Korode while
presenting his paper on the theme, “Redefining the role of the church in
poverty alleviation”, said, the body of Christ which the church is, is built by
God and belonging to God, so, regardless of whatever name we give ourselves,
none of us own the church, it belongs to God because it is built on the
foundation of the apostles and the prophets. According to him, the churches
should build a searchlight on the less privileges, provide for its members as
God provided for Adam and Eve in the garden of eden. “The church is no longer
in giving ministry, the church and its leaders are in the habit of collecting
and smiling to the bank. The church we know today has very fat and gifted
pastors. They can walk in conventional vehicles and motion but its members are stranded. “The
church is obliged to take care of the orphans, the needy and the helpless. If
the church cannot migrate to the level of giving, we will not be able to win
the heart of those who are lost” he said. The Apostle urged the church to know
that, there is a need to become a caring church. “We should redefine our
mission of giving to the members. The church must bear in mind that the mercy
received is not to be kept in the bank account”, he cautioned. He also urged
the church to have a prison ministry to give hope to those that are lost.
